The continued failure of the Port of Port Townsend to address its infrastructure needs, which now includes the breakwater, require dissolution of the port district and transfer of its assets and liabilities to the City of Port Townsend.
A new governance model is required.
Lee Iacocca suggested that those chosen to govern should “lead, follow or get out of the way.”
The Port commissioners choose to dither.
Hudson Point is a key community asset requiring action, but the proposal of the Northwest Maritime Center to refashion the point received no reasoned response. (“Northwest Maritime Center withdraws Point Hudson proposal,” PDN, May 4)
Government dysfunction is not a viable option.
