I will gladly vote yes for both the Port Angeles School District school bond and levy.
Our two sons attended grades 1-12 at Port Angeles schools and received excellent educations.
Early in his schooling, one needed extra help with reading skills. He met individually with special education teachers, improved significantly and later rejoined mainstream reading classes.
Both boys played in the band in middle and high school. Both participated in multiple athletic teams.
In these activities they not only acquired skills but also learned discipline, endurance and being part of a team or ensemble.
Throughout their school experience, the boys worked alongside students who came from varied backgrounds. While some were quick learners, others needed more attention, and teachers consistently worked for the betterment of every individual.
Coaches trained young athletes to improve, regardless of their starting abilities.
Clearly our nation is displaying deep cultural and political divisions.
Amidst these differences, I hope we can agree that all young people of this community deserve the educational programs and facilities that will prepare them for their lives ahead.
School administrators have done their homework, listened to citizen concerns, managed operations with limited resources and taken stock of the very real infrastructure needs within the district.
Alongside committed school board members, district leaders have done their part.
It’s our turn to support these efforts by voting yes on both the bond and the levy.
