When I was 10, my mom, an intelligent Christian woman, told me that even though our candidate Nixon lost to Kennedy in the presidential race, in our democracy, you should follow and respect our new president.
As it turned out, she was right to trust the guy who prevented me from dying under my desk at school from a nuclear blast from Cuba while her choice ended up a crook who had to leave the office later in disgrace.
I would like to be able to give my granddaughter the same speech after this recent election, but I can’t.
Instead, I have to tell her to not be like the guy who has become our president again. Don’t lie like he did 20,000 times during his last administration. Don’t steal as he was found to have done with his phony scams and charities. Don’t cheat as he was found to have done with his lies to banks and insurance companies.
Treat people as you would have them treat you by not calling others demeaning names and defaming and abusing them in vulgar terms.
Basically, follow and respect the Golden Rule and the 10 Commandments and not our new president, who has violated every one of them and will continue to do so.
