LETTER: I had a nice experience with recent ranter’s ‘boys on bikes’

I read the rant about the boys on their bikes behaving badly [Aug. 20, “Rants & Raves,” Peninsula Daily News].

I had a different experience outside the Port Angeles Library earlier in the month.

Seemed like an unending stream of young men on bikes whipping down the sidewalk toward the library.

I hesitated before stepping up to the door, not wanting to get “run over,” and was very pleasantly surprised when the last young man in line swung close to the door and, while still on his bike, held the door open for me to enter, then sped off to catch up with his peers.

The young man in a red T-shirt and black shorts appeared to smile when I said, “Well, thank you, sir.”

It still brings a smile when I think of the event.
