I am writing in response to statements by some Jefferson County residents that are concerned about the availability of women’s health care in their county.
Jefferson Healthcare has a full-service women’s clinic that is staffed by Dr. Ann Hoffman, OB-GYN, and Jane Albee, women’s health nurse practitioner.
The radiology department has the latest in 3-D mammography.
The birthing center is staffed by registered nurses specializing in obstetrics, including a midwife.
This hospital was the fifth in Washington state to be designated as baby-friendly by the World Health Organization.
In addition, an experienced midwife already serves on the hospital board.
These services are high-cost with low reimbursement.
The administration has been dedicated to continue to offer these important services to the women of Jefferson County.
Few hospitals in Washington state have a more generous charity care program than Jefferson Healthcare.
Jefferson Healthcare also has a cadre of highly educated, nationally published nurses that are well-versed in the latest health care policy.
This is obvious if you receive services there.
What the organization is missing is a hospital board member who understands the financial complexities of maintaining these services.
One of the top responsibilities of the board is the fiscal health of the organization.
Bruce McComas is the only one who has the financial experience, the heart and a history of dedication and service to his community, including Jefferson Healthcare.
I retired after my 25-year career at JHC and now serve on its foundation board.
I am thankful to receive my health care here.
My vote goes to Bruce McComas.
