LETTER: Kudos to Nash, PDN, Gazette for Mad Hatter story

Matthew Nash’s article on the Mad Hatter Tea (“Survivors, supporters rally … “) in the Sequim Gazette on Oct. 4 and the Peninsula Daily News on Oct. 12 was a great boost for a group of women who give much to the community.

Although the pictures and part of the story made us minor celebs in our Sunland community, the real story is the work the ladies do.

We thank Matt for his sincerity and kind words and the Peninsula Daily News and Sequim Gazette for publicizing the great event.

The tea was a real success and raised almost $10,000 which will benefit women in the Dungeness Valley in their individual fight against breast cancer, according to another story in the PDN.

We are currently entering a new phase of the fight on a very personal level.

We know we are not alone and we want others to know that they, too, have support and prayers of the community.

Thanks to the Mad Hatter ladies, the businesses that support the effort, the Daily News and Gazette for getting the word out, the local medical community for their commitment and last but not least, to Matt Nash for his understanding.
