I read the letter in the Aug. 3 Peninsula Daily News [“Get over it”], about how we should get over the fact that Trump is president and support him, etc.
Nothing new there, until one phrase caught my eye: traditional values.
The writer believes Mr. Trump “supports traditional values.”
Perhaps I’ve been mistaken all these years — 74 and counting — I thought traditional values included truthfulness, empathy, charity, sexual morality, honesty, trustworthiness, respect for others and consistency.
Do I err?
Am I not correct in assuming the letter writer believes in those values, too?
Then, the problem is that Mr. Trump has lavishly demonstrated in the few short months he’s been president he embodies none of those values.
Further, he has clearly demonstrated that he has no intention of even giving them lip — or tweet — service.
Pay attention, people.
