LETTER: Olympic Peninsula fortunate to have strong leaderhsip during hard times

While the unprecedented health crisis of the last few months has highlighted the terrifying lack of leadership on the national level, we here on the Olympic Peninsula have been most fortunate to have had strong and enlightened leaders to guide us through these difficult times.

County health officers Dr. Tom Locke, in Jefferson County; Dr. Alison Unthank, in Clallam County; and Ron Cameron, Clallam County undersheriff have provided reasoned and professional leadership in their regular dealings with the press and the public.

At a time when fright and fear could easily become the norm, all three have been calm and measured as the voices of county government and have certainly been important in keeping local citizens relatively safe.

The battle is far from over.

But it is heartening to see such strong and intelligent leadership from our county officials.
