LETTER: Port Angeles needs less expensive school options

This is an assessment of Port Angeles schools as a whole from the perspective of a lifelong member of this community (more than 70 years).

As I look around the neighborhoods, many or most of the houses I remember as a child are still standing and livable.

You shouldn’t wonder why.

They have been maintained or remodeled.

Now then, the taxes on many of these houses exceed the payments made when these same houses were new.

Futhermore, I doubt very few meet earthquake safety protocols.

Safety is important, but we don’t even have seatbelts in our school buses.

For those of you who are renting, I think the new school levy will inevitably lead to higher rents.

Seems to me that there are many less expensive options that need to be researched and considered.

There is a more practical solution.

Let us work toward that end.

Richard Coulson,

Port Angeles
