LETTER: Port Townsend’s beauty, spirit welcomed me with open arms on a recent visit

It seems like only yesterday I was walking up and down Water Street in lovely Port Townsend smelling the sweet and spicy aromas of local dishes.

Mornings I spent combing the shore for sea-glass out by the paper mill, then sitting down for coffee and freshly baked goods at the Marina Cafe.

I’d go sit within the arms of the big, leather chair at the William James bookstore and try to not bother my daughter too much as she worked attending to customers.

I miss being there and everything I saw and heard during my stay.

I even began writing a story, which I have yet to complete, about my adventures.

I met several people who touched my life in one way or another.

I am amazed at the richness of the artists, craftsmen and creativity of this beautiful town.

I appreciate why my daughter enjoys living there so much.

Port Townsend is such a beautiful gem, quite extraordinary and fulfilling.

The people at the library are ever so helpful and awesome.

Even the otters and the sea lions were a blessing.

I miss my walks, the sounds of musicians on the sidewalks and aromas that I indulged in, and I look forward to one day publishing my story so that I can relive my stay.

I hope Port Townsend continues to reflect the artistic energy that permeates the air, come rain or shine.

Thank you for your hospitality.
