LETTER: Protection of paramount importance, not necessarily recreation in park

Regarding complaints of jet noise in Olympic National Park: The park consists of trees, mountains and trails. How pristine and beautiful would the area be if it were attacked and destroyed as the Twin Towers were in 2011?

Protection of our country and our way of life is of paramount importance. Recreation is at best secondary.

If the Navy needs to use our air space for jet training, bring it on. Flight-testing noise is way better than no noise at all, and that could be the situation if we were attacked and unable to defend ourselves.

Think about that the next time you want the Navy to go away.
