LETTER: Public health crisis

The surgeon general declared guns to be a public health crisis.

That’s like saying that because people are obese, shopping carts are a problem.

During the COVID-19 public health crisis, our government metaphorically put their boot right on our necks.

They overstepped their authority at every opportunity.

As I write this, 55 percent of the people in the PDN reader’s poll agree with the surgeon general.

Given the recent history of our government, what makes you think that our constitutionally protected rights aren’t in their crosshairs?

Maybe 55 percent of you are OK with government overreach in this area because you don’t like guns.

That’s rich.

You participate in your First Amendment right to free speech to agree with an attack on our Second Amendment rights.

The Second Amendment was included in the Bill of Rights to defend our country against a tyrannical government.

On political issues, I know I’m on the correct side of things when I disagree with the majority of PDN readers.
