LETTER: Reason should prevail in park’s policy on mountain goats

About the July 26 article “Relocate, Kill Options For Goats; Olympic National Park Releases Its Draft Plan” regarding removing mountain goats from Olympic National Park, park officials keep saying the animals are not native to the park.

Man is not native as well and causes more harm than the animals.

So the park argument that non-native species should be removed is inconsistent with its proposed action-policy.

The decision should be fairly based on damage to the park — and one incident [the fatal goring of Bob Boardman of Port Angeles in 2010] should not make policy.

Reason should prevail.
