Letter: Rogers best choice

I am a friend of Karen Rogers and going to state why I am voting for her.

Karen knows the needs of our community, having attended more than her share of hospital board meetings.

My understanding is that her opponent, Heather Jeffers, has not attended one yet.

Karen understands the governance role of the commissioner.

She has studied the hospital district’s finances, strategic planning and community partnerships, and she has the time required to meet the demands of the position.

She fully supports keeping our hospital locally owned and managed, which leaves me to wonder about her opponent’s position on this issue.

Her opponent, while being interviewed on KONP on July 22, said that she would consider a proposal to sell Olympic Medical Center.

Karen has long been an advocate for health care and will represent you, not corporate interests.

I also feel that we should have a community representative on the board, not an all, or majority, of health care workers.

For skill, experience and leadership, vote Karen Rogers for Hospital District 2 commissioner.

She has the Crescent, Sequim and Port Angeles communities’ best interests at heart.
