LETTER: Serious debate, not signs, required

How easy it must be to hold up signs that proclaim that it’s wrong to end unwanted pregnancies while ignoring all the many issues involved in this debate.

We see examples of unfit parents every day in the news — parents convicted of murder, sexual abuse, neglect and every other crime under the sun against children.

The same political party that rants against Planned Parenthood and birth control plans to cut services to people who are struggling to make ends meet.

Often these people are parents who — in a more perfect world — should never have had children.

Their lives too often revolve around drugs and alcohol.

Some have serious learning disabilities and can barely take care of themselves, much less a tiny baby.

What a grave injustice to our children to demand that these people keep churning out these unwanted babies that were conceived with no forethought whatsoever.

Is this wanting what is best for our children?
