Seems to me that picking a plan for the Elwha River bridge on U.S. Highway 101 (there’ve gotta be dozens) and starting it ASAP in a new site would allow traffic to and from the West End to continue hopefully until the new bridge is completed.
Cameras and steep fines would keep heavy trucks from violating speed limits to preserve the old bridge for as long as possible.
