LETTER: Thanks for the tape

I would like to thank two ladies from the Port Angeles area for salvaging my hiking trip in Scotland on Sept. 6.

My knee brace had failed and we were several kilometers into a 19-kilometer walk on the Great Glen Way from Loch Laide to Inverness.

One of the ladies approaching us on the back country lane was wearing shorts and a well-taped knee. I asked how the taping worked, and the response was very well.

Both ladies had used tape at times. They were carrying spare tape and offered to tape my knee. I pulled up my pant leg. They pulled out the tape.

We had a problem; nothing to cut the tape with.

At that moment, a Scottish police car pulled up and asked if we needed help. They had scissors. My knee was taped.

The officers asked where all of us were from.

My party is from Otter Point just across the Strait.

You see our July 1 fireworks, we see your July 4 fireworks.

I regret not getting your names.

Ladies, your tape job lasted for days, enabling me to complete the hikes.

Many thanks.
