Everyone acknowledges — including the current president — that our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, had a subtle feel for understanding his electorate.
The following quote (which is attributed to Lincoln) is illustrative of this:
“You can fool all of the people some of the time; some of the people all of the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”
Donald J. Trump’s subtler understanding of his supporters has allowed him to now remove a generality from Lincoln’s thesis.
Under Trump’s revision, the adage now reads:
“You can fool all of the people some of the time; about 40 percent of the people all of the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”
Once again, Mr. Trump has proven that he is better than anyone else.
