LETTER: Wig story uplifting in Port Angeles

In section C of the Feb. 25 Peninsula Daily News, there was an article titled “Looking like herself again,” written by Fran Howell.

This was the best-written article I have ever read in the Peninsula Daily News.

Period.

And the topic filled my heart with admiration and respect for Dawn Saiz, and for Shara Smith, owner of The Hair School, right here, in Port Angeles, and for the companies and people who worked to provide the hair and service for these uplifting gifts.

Wouldn’t it be something special if citizens all over the Peninsula donated hair for the program that gives wigs to women and children diagnosed with cancer?

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see school kids joining in this worthwhile effort and learning how good it feels to do something for others?

How about a school challenge?

What a way for folks to pull together for a change and support a great cause.

I will repeat the contact information that was in the article:

•The Hair School, 360-452-3048

•Studio 121 School of Cosmetology, 360-417-0388

They collect ponytails of 8 inches or longer that are sent away to be made into wigs.
