LETTERS: Pay attention to facts, not theories about MAT

I fully support the proposed medication-assisted treatment clinic for several reasons.

Clallam and Jefferson counties have been identified as having very high opioid use, so it is necessary.

After getting the fact sheets, listening to Ron Allen, the two hospital CEOs, Jefferson County health officer Dr. Tom Locke, Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict and others, I have only positive conclusions.

This is the most well-organized project, and what better community-minded people to do something so good as the tribe, with the hospitals and law enforcement supporting them.

Considering opioids actually change the brain, this wrap-around clinic will mean success for many of these addicts.

Many people have stereotypes of an addict as someone who is homeless and willing to steal from anyone.

Considering the addicts who spoke and the information from others, many of these opioid-dependent people have jobs and are living here among us.

The idea that busloads will be coming from Seattle has been debunked.

This is for Jefferson and Clallam counties only.

I support this clinic wholeheartedly.

The addicts need it.

Let’s pay attention to the facts, not the unfounded theories and give these opioid-dependent residents the opportunity

for a better life.
