LETTERS: Plans for drug clinic to make Sequim a better place

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s various enterprises in and around Sequim employ many people, the large majority of whom are not tribal members.

The salaries and wages of those employees are mostly spent in our community which supports non-tribal businesses.

The visitors who are drawn to our area by the casino, the golf course and, soon, the tribe’s hotel also spend money at non-tribal businesses around the area.

The tribe has every interest in maintaining and growing Sequim’s image as a pleasant and attractive place to live, retire or visit.

To believe that the tribe would do anything to imperil their economic development strategy seems to me delusional.

The planned medication-assisted treatment facility, developed with partners Olympic Medical Center and others, aims to solve real community problems and make Sequim and vicinity an even better, and safer place.
