LETTER:Sequim council

Local election season is upon us, and signs abound both in Sequim and in the county for local candidates for public office.

Sequim residents are fortunate to have excellent returning and new candidates stepping up for the city council so that when voters open their ballots, they have a choice.

That has not always been the case in recent years.

I’m happy to see Harmony Rutter run for Position 6.

A young mom with deep ties to the community and with a young mom’s perspective, she has been endorsed by Jamestown S’Klallam and the Sierra Club.

Another new face, Dan Butler, candidate for Position 2, is currently an active, thoughtful member of the Sequim Planning Commission and most well-known for his stellar community work as organizer of Wednesdays at St. Luke’s.

Running for Position 1, Kathy Downer currently serves on the Sequim City Council.

Kathy has also served on her council back in Ohio, and so continues to bring considerable experience, dedication, and intelligence to the council.

Election Day is Nov. 7.

Get your ballot in.
