Yes, in our back yard

NIMBY does not work

Not-in-my-backyard is such a widespread attitude it was shortened to NIMBY.

In this age of existential threats, NIMBY does not work.

President Trump dismissed COVID-19 as the “Wuhan virus,” an ocean away.

Now the U.S. is the world epicenter with nearly 200,000 dead.

Wildfires?

That’s in California’s backyard.

I woke up one morning with my backyard engulfed in smoke, and record heat headed our way.

NIMBY did not keep the smoke nor the heat away.

Drug addiction is found among homeless people under the I-5 overpass in Seattle.

Then Clallam County emerged as a hot spot of opioid addiction.

The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe recognized a public health crisis and is moving to build a treatment center for opioid victims, our family, neighbors.

Addiction was in our backyard quicker than you can say “NIMBY.”

When a rogue Minneapolis cop kneeled on George Floyd’s throat, choking him to death, we could have hid our heads in the sand, NIMBY-style.

Instead, hundreds protested in downtown Sequim, Port Angeles and Forks holding signs that said, “Remember George Floyd,” and “Black Lives Matter.”

Even gunmen could not intimidate them.

NIMBY won’t keep racism from our backyard.

We must stand up and fight to win equality for all.

NIMBY won’t defend the right to vote with Trump and his minions invading our backyard and front yard to steal our Biden-Harris signs.

Trump seeks to wreck the U.S. Postal Service to steal our right to vote.

Forget NIMBY.

Register and vote Tuesday.

Retire Trump, Mitch McConnell.
