PORT LUDLOW — Arthur Fernandez-Scarberry, of Olympia, was elected as a delegate to the Baha’i United States National Spiritual Assembly at a Sept. 30 convention of Olympic Peninsula Baha’i in Port Ludlow.
The U.S. assembly is one of 176 national assemblies worldwide.
This year members of the Baha’i faith are commemorating the 40th anniversary of the martyrdom of 10 Iranian women who refused to renounce their Baha’i faith.
They are also honoring the memory of Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish woman who died in September 2022 while in custody of Iranian morality police for violating the country’s hijab law.
