Book discussion groups planned at NOLS

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Library System will host book discussions in person and online this month.

The Second Saturday and the Wednesday Evening groups will meet outside at the Sequim branch library and the Port Angeles branch library, respectively.

In the event of inclement weather, these meetings will move inside.

The Second Tuesday and the Novel Conversations groups will continue to meet online.

• The Second Saturday Book Discussion Group will meet at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, in the field behind the Sequim Branch Library, 601 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim.

The group will discuss “Dinner with Edward” by Isabel Vincent; paperback copies are available for pickup at the Sequim Library.

The group will discuss “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel García Márquez in October.

• The Second Tuesday Book Discussion Group will meet online at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, to discuss “The Nickel Boys” by Colson Whitehead.

Paperback copies are available for pickup at the Port Angeles Library.

In October, the group will discuss “Becoming” by Michelle Obama.

• The Novel Conversations Book Discussion Group is set to meet online at 4 p.m. Sept. 28 to talk about “The Undocumented Americans” by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio.

Paperback copies are available for pickup at the Sequim Library.

The group plans to discuss “A House Without Windows” by Nadia Hashimi in October.

• The Wednesday Evening Book Discussion Group will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the courtyard outside the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

The group will discuss “Indianapolis” by Lynn Vincent; paperback copies are available for pickup at the Port Angeles Library.

Its October selection is “Deacon King Kong” by James McBride.

Registration, at www.nols.org, is required to join the online meetings and is recommended for the in-person discussions.

With teams of two to four, contestants try to put together a puzzle in a two-hour time limit. Justin Senter and Rachel Cook finished their puzzle in 54 minutes to win the event.
