Camp Beausite NW opens registration for summer activities

CHIMACUM — Registration is now open for week-long overnight summer camp sessions at Camp Beausite NW in Chimacum.

The camp is for people from 6 to over 65 who have special needs.

Spots fill quickly, organizers said, so they recommend early registration.

Campers ride horses, swim at the Port Townsend pool, have cookouts, and take part in singalongs and beach picnics.

Other activities include tie-dye, archery, lawn and court games, billiards, air hockey, skits and carnival games.

Evening musicians and presenters, including drum circles with Peninsula Drumming, provide entertainment, as does a talent night and visits from rescued raptors at Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue.

The camp’s weekly sessions run Monday through Friday from July 2 through Aug. 3, with each week for a different age group.

The fee is $850. Campers who are eligible and enrolled in Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) may have their fees paid by this program; check with one’s DDA case manager for eligibility.

Camp Beausite offers a care ratio of one counselor for every one or two campers.

Now hiring

Camp Beausite NW is now hiring skilled, compassionate camp counselors and a camp nurse.

Candidates for counselors must be at least 18, pass a background check, have experience working with people either in a school or workplace leadership role, and must be willing to live on-site during camp sessions.

These are paid positions. To register for the camp or to apply for a counselor or nurse position, visit www.campbeausitenw.org.

For more information, contact Director of Programs Cheryl Smith at 360-808-5629 or programs@campbeausitenw.org. Or, see the organization’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CampBeausiteNW.
