SEQUIM — The Olympic View Community Foundation has awarded $18,000 in college scholarships.
• Sequim Prairie Nights Scholarships:
Three $1,000 awards to Sequim High School seniors Cole Tierney and Andres Benitez, who will attend the Northwest Lineman School in Meridian, Idaho, to become electrical linemen, and Melanie Byrne, who will study welding at Peninsula College.
• Mary Whitmore Memorial Scholarships:
Kaidence Cary, of Sequim High School, $1,500. She will study veterinary technology at Yakima Valley Community College in Yakima.
Isaac Elliott, of Crescent School District, $1,500. He will study Kinesiology at Peninsula College.
Cody Larsen, of Crescent School District, $1,500. He will study Nursing at Peninsula College.
Aaron Edmiston, of Port Angeles, $1,500, he will attend the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo, Calif., to become a harbor pilot.
Lisa Martin, of Port Angeles, $1,000. She will study social work at Evergreen College in Olympia.
• Michael Sindars Memorial Scholarships:
Dalton Ross, of Port Angeles, $3,000. He will study diesel technology at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nevada.
Olivia Wray, of Port Angeles, $3,000. She will attend Peninsula College to major in elementary education.
The foundation also donated $2,000 to Soroptimist International of Sequim to fund two Continuing Education Scholarships to benefit women who have completed one year of college and need support to continue their education.
