SEQUIM — The Dungeness River Audubon Center will offer several educational events in the next month.
The presentations are:
• Nest Box Building Class — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the center at 2151 W. Hendrickson Road; $15 per person, $12.50 per person for two or more.
Each participant will learn how to build a box and construct one to take home and install in the yard.
Materials, tools and expert assistance are provided.
• Owls — Masters of the Night — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the center; $10 per person.
River center director Powell Jones will lead this special presentation focused on owls.
This is a family-friendly class designed for beginners and enthusiasts who want to learn more about the birds of the night.
The presentation will cover basic owl identification, sounds, adaptations, hunting techniques and stories.
• Explorers Club: Hurricane Ridge Trip — 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center, 3002 Mount Angeles Road, Port Angeles; $20 covers park entrance but not snowshoe rental.
The next Explorers Club outing is a trip up to the Ridge for a snowshoe hike.
Participants can learn about the Olympic Mountains, how they formed and how they continue to be shaped.
All experience levels are welcome.
