PORT ANGELES — Cathy Lucero, Clallam County Noxious Weed Control coordinator, will talk about edible versus inedible weeds at noon Thursday.
“Weedy Gastronomy — What to Eat, What to Avoid” will be presented in the county commissioners’ meeting room, Room 160, at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
The hour-long presentation is free and open to the public.
Lucero will provide tools for identifying and distinguishing between edible and inedible weeds, tips for collecting and preparing a dozen edible weeds, and pros and cons of incorporating them into our diets.
Lucero studied botany at the University of Washington and completed her degree in environmental science through the Huxley program at Western Washington University.
She has been in her present position for 19 years.
The presentation is part of the Green Thumbs Garden Tips educational series sponsored by the WSU Clallam County Master Gardeners on the second and fourth Thursdays of every month in Port Angeles.
