Henninger makes Eagle Scout rank in Sequim troop

SEQUIM — Jack Henninger has earned the Eagle Scout award.

Henninger, a member of Sequim Boy Scout Troop 1498, will receive the award at a Court of Honor ceremony this month.

Candidates for the award must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or synagogue-related service project; nationally, only about 5 percent of scouts become Eagle Scouts.

For his community project, Henninger chose to improve the safety and access at Sequim’s Shipley Center.

His project included sweeping and pressure washing the parking lot, re-striping parking spaces, painting curbs and disabled parking spaces.

He attends Peninsula College and plans to advance to a four-year university to study exercise science or kinesiology.

He is the son of Ray and Ann Henninger of Sequim.
