PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Master Gardeners and the Olympic Orchard Society will offer the 2025 Home Orchard Series with lectures and workshops from Jan. 22 to June 7.
Master gardeners Tom Del Hotal, Keith Dekker and Gordon Clark will provide up-to-date, research-based information for sustainable fruit tree care.
Registration is $45 for the series or $10 for a single presentation.
The series is designed for people with just one or two fruit trees up to those with small home orchards.
Classes, which can each accommodate 100 students, will be conducted at the Dungeness River Nature Center, 1943 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim.
The classes include “Home Fruit Trees: Starting Right” on Jan. 22, “Pruning Basics, Winter Pruning and Dormant Spraying” on Feb. 5, “New Tree Planting and Training and Pruning Grapes & Kiwi” on March 12, “Best Cultural Practices for Fruit Trees and Grafting and Budding” on April 23 and “Fruit Tree Diseases and Pests” on May 14.
Workshops, which can accommodate 50 students each, will be conducted at the Lazy J Tree Farm, 225 Gehrke Road, Port Angeles, or at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road, Sequim.
The workshops include “Winter Pruning Demonstration” on Feb. 15, “Winter Pruning Demonstration: A Second Opportunity” on March 15, “Restorative Pruning of Older Fruit Trees” on April 5 and “Fruit Thinning and Summer Pruning” on June 7.
