LAST WEEK, I made an assumption, and you know what that means.
I made mention that Denny Secord Jr. was a second-generation musician. Was I wrong!
Turns out that Grandpa Liva Secord (father of second-generationists Denny Secord Sr. and Dave Secord) used to play fiddle in the Grange Halls 60 years ago or so.
And then there’s Grandmother Marilyn Bell, who entertained at Aggies Restaurant and Lounge and also at the Elks Naval Lodge.
She and Grandpa Bell owned the Wagon Wheel, which was where R Bar is now.
So the family tree has Liva and Marilyn, followed by Denny Sr. and wife Gail (Jr.’s mother) and Dave.
So Denny Jr. is third generation, but next month, Denny Jr. and his son, fourth-generationist Dalton, will appear together at Uncle Dave’s gig at the Fairmount Restaurant.
Exact date will be in a future column. Maybe Mom and Dad will be there, too.
Now, here’s this week’s live music gigs.
