PORT ANGELES — Students with a passion for storytelling who are interested in writing, photography and design are encouraged to apply now for the College’s Webster Scholarship.
Completed scholarship applications are due March 28.
Funding for the Webster Scholarship comes from an endowment established by the late Charles N. Webster, whose family founded local radio station KONP and the newspaper now known as the Peninsula Daily News.
Award amounts depend on the student’s enrollment level. Students can receive up to $4,500 for an academic year.
Individuals must enroll in certain courses and be enrolled in at least five credits to be eligible for the scholarship.
If the scholarship isn’t used one quarter, the student will lose it for the rest of the year — with the exception of absence due to military service.
Scholarship recipients must maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average at Peninsula College.
In addition, communication studies — journalism path students must maintain a 3.0 combined grade point average in their communication studies — journalism classes, and multimedia communication degree students must maintain a 3.0 combined grade point average in their multimedia communication classes.
Failure to maintain all of the requirements may result in the loss of scholarship funds.
Students must enroll in the following classes:
Communication studies — journalism students: must have declared communication studies — journalism as their education track and enroll in either a minimum of 5 credits of communication studies — journalism (CMST) classes or directed studies 290-294 approved by communication studies — journalism faculty.
Multimedia communication students: must have declared multimedia communication as their education track (coded 524 or 524C) and enroll in either a minimum of 5 credits from the media communication graduation checklist each quarter or directed studies 290-294 approved by multimedia communication faculty.
