KirtanFest slated for Port Townsend on Saturday

PORT TOWNSEND — The second KirtanFest is set for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

The annual festival will be at Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center, 3918 San Juan Ave., Port Townsend.

Tickets are $25 to $108 per person on a sliding scale and $25 for optional Indian lunch.

To purchase tickets, call 360-385-6519 or email info@unitypt.org.

Kirtan is the ages-old practice of the singing of the names of the Divine. No experience or beliefs are necessary to attend.

The festival will begin with yoga and vocal sounding when the doors open at 8 a.m. followed by four regional Kirtan bands.

Performers include the Port Townsend-based Shanti Salish, Ann Strickland from Bainbridge Island, Atma from Seattle and Shakti Seva from Whidbey Island.

Participants can enjoy more yoga and a singing bowl session in between sets, and an authentic Indian meal will be available at lunch time.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit Unity.
