Loneliness, treaty rights lectures scheduled on Peninsula

Lectures on loneliness and treaty rights are among Wednesday’s activities on the North Olympic Peninsula.

FORKS

Hour of code

FORKS — The North Olympic Library System will host an Hour of Code at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Youths aged 9-12 years can join in at the Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave.

The program works on the BBC micro:bit pocket computer and introduces children to computer coding.

Masonic bingo

PORT ANGELES — Mason’s Lodge 69 at 622 S. Lincoln St. will host bingo from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Wellness forum

SEQUIM — Michael McBride will present “Why Loneliness Is So Toxic” at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The lecture will be at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.

The free presentation is part of the WOW! Working on Wellness Forum series sponsored by the Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic.

McBride, a clinical psychologist, has been practicing in Port Angeles for 35 years.

Story of Water

SEQUIM — Hansi Hals will present “Tribal Treaty Rights and Water: From Time Immemorial” from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The presentation will be in the Sequim City Council chambers at City Hall, 152 W. Cedar St.

The presentation is part of the Story of Water in Depth series sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Clallam County.

Hals is the natural resources director for the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.

Open house

PORT HADLOCK — The Jefferson County Library will host its annual Holiday Open House from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The public is invited to visit the library at 620 Cedar Ave. to listen to live music by Trevor Hanson or visit the crafts room.

Barbara Sjoholm will read from her translation of “By the Fire: Sami Folktales and Legends.”

Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Jefferson County Library.
