PORT ANGELES — Elaine Webber, a WSU Clallam County Master Gardener, will provide tips for growing ingredients for fresh salsa at noon today.
The presentation will be in the county commissioners’ meeting room (160) at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The lecture is sponsored by the Clallam County Master Gardeners and is the newest installment of the group’s Green Thumb Educational Series.
Webber will present an overview of the growing requirements for tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, onions, garlic and cilantro.
Her focus will be growing these vegetables in containers but her tips will benefit individuals who want to grow these plants in garden beds as well.
Webber has degrees in botany and general science, holds an advanced degree in biology and has more than 30 years of teaching experience. She combines her passion for gardening with her love for Mexican food and has been “growing her own salsa” for years.
Her gardens were featured on the front page of the Snoqualmie Valley Record in an article about drought-tolerant garden.
