PORT ANGELES — Master Gardener Janet Oja will provide suggestions for designing a garden which incorporates bamboo and ornamental grasses at noon today.
The free presentation, part of the Green Thumb Garden Tips education series, will be in the county commissioners’ meeting room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
Attendees are invited to bring a lunch.
The talk will highlight ornamental grasses in a home landscape. Oja will describe different varieties of grasses and will discuss buying and planting them.
She also will provide tips for their care, including how and when to cut them back.
The daughter of two botanists, Oja has gardened all her life. She retired from hospital nursing and moved to Sequim from Colorado in 2003.
She became a Master Gardener in 2005 and agreed that summer to help in the grasses section of the Woodcock Garden. She has been its primary caregiver since then.
The series is sponsored by the WSU Clallam County Master Gardeners the second and fourth Thursday of every month in Port Angeles. Programs are designed to help home gardeners establish or improve their gardening practices. Speakers are local and regional individuals with expertise and experience in sustainable horticultural practices.
