PORT ANGLES — Another annual community event is being revived.
The Clallam County Gem & Mineral Association’s Rock, Gem & Jewelry Show is set for Saturday and Sunday at the Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Familiar and new vendors are scheduled to be on hand, and the show once again features Rock Alley for youth, who will have an opportunity to play games and win prizes.
“Our vendors offer rock specimens from around the world — the usual and the unusual,” club members said last week. “We also have jewelry vendors, bead vendors, rock art vendors … something for everyone.”
An added feature this year are grab bags filled with polished rocks. A bag with a “silver rock” means the recipient gets to choose a prize from a table with jewelry, specimen rocks, books and other prizes.
Additionally, club members will be on hand demonstrating the art of shaping and polishing cabochons and the faceting of gemstones.
The show’s annual raffle includes various prizes, including a metal sculpture designed by Chuck Hagood, a large wooden serving tray by craftsman Jack Tatom, a large Ming tree, a amethyst pendant and a new vibrating rock tumbler. (Raffle participants do not need to be present to win.)
Show attendees must comply with any current COVID requirements. For more information, call show coordinator Kathy Schreiner at 360-460-0827 or see sequim rocks.org.
