Children swarm a new piece of playground equipment after it was officially opened Saturday at Quinn Redlin Kintner Memorial Park, formerly Georgiana Park, near Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
The equipment was purchased through grants and community donations and installed by Port Angeles Parks Department crews.
Officials renamed the park for Quinn Redlin Kintner, a Port Angeles accessibility activist who spearheaded efforts to make the city’s parks accessible to people with disabilities.
Kintner died in 2010 at age 20 before the official groundbreaking of the park she advocated for.
