Port Angeles center offers Aging Options Senior Fair

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Senior &Community Center will host a free Aging Options Senior Fair on Saturday.

The fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center, 328 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles.

The fair is designed for community members 45 and older.

It will offer a host of professionals, volunteer groups and other civic organizations with information about a variety of topics such as general health and wellness, Medicare basics, elder fraud prevention, finances, independent living, power of attorney issues, wealth transfers, hospice and palliative care, and more.

The event features free health care screenings, such as balance screenings, blood pressure checks, pulse diagnostics and cardio risk assessment.

The fair presents a number of speakers who each will give a 10-minute talk, then open the floor for a short question-and-answer session.

Attendees can look at the schedule of topics and come for the portion they’re interested in during the four-hour event.

Schedule of speakers and topics:

• 10:20 a.m. — Richard Tizzano: “Estate Planning. Why Is It Important?”

• 10:45 a.m. — KSQM FM 91.5: “Emergency Broadcasting.”

• 11:10 a.m. — Ed Ebling, Sequim Health &Rehab: “What to Expect in Skilled Nursing.”

• 11:35 a.m. — Halina D’Urso, First Federal: “Ways to Stretch Your Retirement Savings.”

• Noon — Michael Lessor, RDN, Olympic Medical Center: “Making Healthy Food Choices.”

• 12:20 p.m. — Raymond Martinez Jr., MS, EPC, Olympic Medical Heart Center: “Exercise in Older Adults. Why Bother?”

• 12:45 p.m. — Robert Streett, Clear Water Bidets: “Activities of Daily Living. Remain Independent.”

• 1:10 p.m. — Discovery Memory Care, Pam Scott: “Memory Care: What Is It and Why Is It Different?”

• 1:35 p.m. — Ray Chirayath, D.A. Davidson: “Investing in a Time of Global Uncertainty &Market Volatility.”
