PORT ANGELES — Locals looking to honor their loved ones and help a community nonprofit at the same time can do so at Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
The organization is bringing back its Radiant Light campaign; people can donate funds to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) and get a personalized star put on the holiday tree at the hospice’s office at 829 E. Eighth St., Port Angeles.
The tradition was started by founder Rose Crumb, who died in December 2018, noted VHOCC volunteer services manager Astrid Raffinpeyloz.
“It kind of dwindled over the years,” Raffinpeyloz said.
The campaign was essentially put on hold the past couple of years during the COVID pandemic, but the office has reopened and the tree was to be up early this month.
VHOCC office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays.
VHOCC is a nonprofit serving Clallam County from Joyce to Diamond Point. All services are free. It provides end-of-life nursing care, loans medical equipment and supplies and offers education programs, grief support groups, one-on-one bereavement services and practical workshops on life after loss.
Raffinpeyloz said the organization currently serves about 85 to 90 clients.
