SEQUIM — The Dungeness River Audubon Center will host a family-friendly birding series of classes beginning in December.
Each class at the center at 2151 W. Hendrickson Road will explore the unique adaptations, habitats and life history of local feathered friends.
The series will run from 10 a.m. to noon. Sessions are $10 each; preregistration is not required.
Series dates are Dec. 16, owls; Jan. 20, corvids; Feb. 17, woodpeckers; March 17, ducks; April 21, hummingbirds; and May 19, swallows.

The Audubon center also will host an Explorers Club one-day trip to Miller Peninsula State Park on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Participants will hike around the second-growth forest and the ravine and possibly even make it out to the beaches.
Participants will meet at the Dungeness River Audubon Center at 9 a.m.
The cost is $10.
