SEQUIM — The answer is yes, they want to. The eight women of Juanamarimba — the “Juana” is pronounced “wanna” — are among the latest additions to this weekend’s 111th Sequim Irrigation Festival.
The band, composed of moms, teachers and a scientist, will bring African warmth to what could be a cool Sequim on Saturday.
They will perform from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the salmon barbecue at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.
The barbecue, a festival tradition, will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. next to the Logging Show and Tractor Pull, which will take place in Margaret Blake’s field alongside Carrie Blake Park.
The Logging Show, with its lawnmower races, helicopter rides and exhibitions, will go from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Grand Parade starts at East Washington and Dunlap streets at noon; at the same time the Funtastic Carnival will get under way at Sequim High School’s greenfield and the Car Show ‘n’ Shine will open from noon to 5 p.m. at Fifth Avenue and West Washington Street.
