Sequim Prairie Nights sets return to downtown Sequim

Funds raised go to Sequim High School scholarships

SEQUIM — After a one-year hiatus, those sweet, classy cars are roaring back into Sequim.

Sequim Prairie Nights is a go for 2021, with dozens of classic cars and activities set for display in downtown Sequim from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Locals and visitors alike are welcome to enjoy perusing the show-and-shine while visiting local eateries and music provided by KSQM and KZQM via broadcast, organizer Larry Perry said.

Amanda Bacon will open the show with her rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner.”

In addition to show participants, special vehicles of significance will be on display, and their owners available for questions and comments.

Items donated by local merchants — both car and non-car-related items — are being raffled, with proceeds going to support Sequim High School graduate scholarships for the automotive and construction trades.

The event also features a silent auction for the old, 6-foot-by-7-foot Kettle’s Union 76 gas station sign, with funds raised also going to the scholarship fund.

A limited number of free gifts will be available for the younger car enthusiasts, Perry said.

Following the show and shine, show participants can take a non-guided “cruise” through the prairie of Sequim, heading out to the Dungeness Spit for views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Mount Baker.

Sequim Prairie Night is a Washington state nonprofit that operates under the Olympic View Community Foundation 501(c)3, a tax-exempt organization. The 2020 event was canceled as the COVID-19 outbreak shut down public events.
