PORT TOWNSEND — The Sister City Project will commemorate the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina’s strike on the Gulf Coast with a meal at the kitchen shelter at Fort Worden State Park.
The 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. gathering, open to the public, will recall Port Townsend’s efforts to assist Bay St. Louis, Miss., after the hurricane devastated the Gulf Coast town.
The current guest from Bay St. Louis, Mary Kay Deen, will attend.
The Sister City Project fund will provide grilled fish as the main course. Participants are asked to bring a side dish, salad, bread, dessert or beverages to share.
Those planning to attend are asked to contact Kathleen Mitchell at middlepoint@waypt.com by noon today.
The Chautauquans will entertain, and the project’s steering committee will provide an update on plans and opportunities for further recovery efforts in Bay St. Louis.
