Soil testing workshop planned

PORT ANGELES — Planners from Clallam Conservation District will present a workshop on soil testing and spring pasture management at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The free workshop is at Robin Hill Farm County Park, 141 Dryke Road, Sequim.

Attendees will learn how soil testing can help in managing healthy, productive pastures and hayfields.

The workshop will cover the proper method of obtaining soil samples for testing and and soil probes will be available for participants to take home to gather samples from their own pastures.

Samples will be collected at the district’s offices in Armory Square on March 15 with results expected within two weeks.

The workshop will also discuss for improving pasture and hay production through such practices as rotational grazing, clipping, dragging, and reseeding.
