WEEKEND: Tibetan teacher to give talks across Peninsula

Tibetan Buddhist teacher Orgyen Zang Shod Dorje will offer a nature walk and five lectures on the North Olympic Peninsula beginning Saturday.

Zang Shod will lead a nature walk to Marymere Falls and give a talk at the Port Angeles Library on Saturday.

On Sunday, he will teach during a Buddhist practice in Port Angeles.

Next week, he will teach in Sequim and Port Townsend.

Zang Shod is a teacher of the Dzogchen Longchen Nyingthig lineage of Tibetan Buddhism under the guidance of Dzogchen Khenpo Choga Rinpoche, who is based in Eugene, Ore.

A donation of $15 is requested for events.

Saturday’s nature walk will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., starting at the Storm King Ranger Station off U.S. Highway 101.

Participants are asked to bring umbrellas and sack lunches and to dress for winter weather.

That evening, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., he will present “Transcendent Action in Modern Life, The Essence of all Dharmas” at the Raymond Carver Community Meeting Room at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, he will lead Buddha Path Practice and teach on “How Generosity Creates the Source of Wealth and Happiness” at 325 E. Sixth St., Port Angeles.

On Friday, Dec. 16, Zang Shod will again speak on the role of generosity in creating wealth during a presentation from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

On Saturday, Dec. 17, he will talk on generosity and wealth at the Port Townsend Dharma Center, 5612 Gise St., from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The following day, Sunday, Dec. 18, he will present “Transcendent Action in Modern Life, The Essence of all Dharmas” at the dharma center, also from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
