Join Our First Fed for Community Spirit Day

First Fed is partnering with Habitat for Humanity for the bank’s first ever Community Spirit Day on June 5. You’re invited to participate in this special volunteer event focusing on affordable housing. People can volunteer at designated Habitat stores and build sites throughout five counties – wherever is most convenient.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization which brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Their staff and volunteers are driven by the vision of a world where everyone has both an affordable and decent place to live. Participants of any ability who are 16 years or older are welcome to sign up – no previous experience necessary.

“We are thrilled to partner with Habitat for Humanity for our first annual Community Spirit Day focused on affordable housing,” said Matt Deines, CEO of First Fed. “We hope people will join our First Fed team in working side-by-side with Habitat to address the critical need for affordable housing in our region.”

First Fed has a long history of commitment to volunteerism and community service. In the past five years, team members have collectively volunteered over 25,000 hours with 400 organizations. First Fed supports the spirit of volunteerism by providing up to 24 hours of paid volunteer time annually per team member, which many use to support their favorite local non-profits. Additionally, First Fed’s Club 100 recognizes team members who have volunteered more than 100 hours in a single year. Club 100 included 20 team members in 2023!

“We are proud to have so many team members serving our communities with their time and talents,” said Derek Brown, Chief HR and Marketing Officer at First Fed. “Our team’s dedication was the inspiration for Community Spirit Day.”

On Wednesday, June 5, all First Fed branches will close at noon so team members can volunteer at the half-day event. However, the First Fed Customer Service team will still be available online or via phone at 800-800-1577.

Find out more about the event and sign up to volunteer at ourfirstfed.com/community-spirit. Let’s all pitch in, for the love of humanity!
