PORT ANGELES — Garrett Leffers, a Peninsula College student and Port Angeles Anytime Fitness intern, has designed a $1,000 weight-loss challenge for Clallam County residents.
Leffers suggested a weight-loss challenge for a marketing project, and Anytime Fitness owner Colton Boddy donated $1,000 for a prize while Leffers came up with contest guidelines.
The contest is free and open to all residents of Clallam County and will run from June 1 to Aug. 14.
Participants must weigh in at Port Angeles Anytime Fitness at the beginning, midway and at the end of the competition. (Contestants do not have to be an Anytime Fitness member).
Initial weigh-ins are slated for the Port Angeles Anytime Fitness, 112 S. DelGuzzi Drive, No. 5, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday (May 30); from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 31; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1.
Participants can work out anywhere and in any way they wish, and can use any nutritional plan.
The winner will be based solely on the total body fat percentage lost.
Leffers designed the challenge as a way to inspire the community.
