PORT TOWNSEND — With accordion, guitar, viola, glockenspiel, kazoo, percussion and ukulele in arms, the Seattle duo David Miles Keenan and Nova Karina Devonie — aka Miles and Karina — will arrive for one unusual experience this Friday.
The nonprofit Key City Public Theatre will host a screening of “Steamboat Bill Jr.,” a silent film starring Buster Keaton, replete with a soundtrack Miles and Karina will perform live.
Tickets are $20 for the 7:30 p.m. show at the Key City Playhouse, 419 Washington St.
Music and movie lovers of all ages are invited to see the 1928 comedy about William “Steamboat Bill” Canfield, captain of a run-down paddle steamer in need of big repairs.
In comes Bill’s college-age son, all of a sudden and after a long separation. Keaton plays him as a pencil-mustached, ukulele-playing dandy, not the hard worker Dad was hoping for.
Away they go, opposites colliding: the spoiled city boy and the burly, strong father.
Miles and Karina provide the musical score for it all in this one-night-only event.
